About Us

I set up Marshwood Trails to create an outdoors activity company with a personal touch to help people discover the best routes, the tastiest local food and all the other hidden gems that West Dorset has to offer.

It was obvious early on that the same hills that make West Dorset so attractive also make it a difficult place to explore in comfort on a traditional bicycle. The solution was to introduce electric bikes to our guided tours programme in 2012, one of the first companies in the country to do so. These amazing machines now enable people with a range of ages and levels of fitness to enjoy a very special place and the bikes have quickly established themselves as the core of the business.

I’ve been fortunate to walk and cycle in some of the loveliest parts of the world, having lived and worked in Europe, New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia and southern Africa. I am a fully accredited National Standard Instructor (formerly cycle proficiency), have mountain bike leadership qualifications and am Outdoor First Aid trained.

A passion for the natural environment and the need to look after its future is at the heart of Marshwood Trails. Prior to setting up the company, I worked as a overseas development consulant and then as a communications specialist in the Government’s conservation agency.
